2020 - Can It Get Any More WORSE?!

It's already near the end of August, the start of the second half of 2020 but the situation of COVID-19 doesn't seems to be getting any better. At the start of 2020 when COVID-19 started spreading out to worldwide, most of us thought it will get better at the second half of the year and everything can be back to normal during end of the year. However now is already the second half of 2020 and we still can't see any hope of countries opening border for leisure travel this year. Even Malaysia - Singapore, just a bridge distance, we Malaysian who are working in Singapore still can't go back to our hometown without serving a 14 days quarantine. Now we don't think everything can back to normal anytime this year.

5 or 10 years later when the younger generations ask us what do we remember of the year 2020, I'm sure people will say COVID-19, lockdown, and the people we lost in 2020...

Due to COVID-19 we can't cross the border for leisure traveling or even going back to home country already make 2020 a bad year and a bad start of a new decade. What's even worse is the number of incredible people who passed away this year 😢

In 26th January, Kobe Bryant and his daughter died in a helicopter crash. This news shocked the whole world. I'm not a basketball fans but I know he is a superstar, a legend in the basketball area, just like Ronaldo and Messi in football. It was such a tragedy, some more it was just the beginning of a new year and a big superstar had passed away. Not a good start for the year 2020.

In March 2020, during this time COVID-19 already spreading across the world including Japan. 1 day I saw the news of Shimura Ken (志村けん) has been tested positive on covid-19 and had been hospitalizing. I was a bit worried as he was quite old already and covid-19 is a serious issue to old people. After a few days, 29th March a bad news was out. The long favourite Japanese comedian had passed away. This news shook the whole Japan. I can't express how sad I was too when I saw the news. He was such a highly respected comedian in Japan and had done so many iconic shows in Japan. The long running animal show - 天才!志村どうぶつ園 (Genius! Shimura Zoo) is my favourite show. Such an iconic person in Japan had passed away due to covid-19 😭

It was heart shattering to watch this video as Haruna(春菜)the news reporter of a morning news show only knew about this bad news in the show as an urgent news to report. She worked with Shimura Ken in the Shimura Doubutsu En show for a long time and I can understand her break down as she only knew about this tragedy when reporting the news. 😢

Besides celebrities and superstars, I had people who I know passed away too in 2020. On 11th August, my ex colleague messaged to deliver a sad news. My previous company's CEO suddenly collapsed while playing table tennis over the long weekends. It was shocking to hear about it and the company staffs also shocked. I went to his wake with my ex colleagues. It was nice catching up with everyone there but I just never thought it will be at such situation.

By far an even more shocking news will be the Marvel's Black Panther main actor - Chadwick Boseman had passed away on 28th August due to colon cancer at the age of 43! The whole day,  the facebook posts, twitter all filled with the news of this sad tragedy. There was no news about him having cancer before that, even though he looks different all of a sudden in 2019, many people thought he was preparing for a new movie. After the sad news came out only we knew that he was already fighting the cancer since 4 years ago. During these years he still give a great performances in Captain America: Civil Wars, The Avengers: Infinity War, and the iconic Black Panther as the role of King T'Challa. May he rest in peace. #WakandaForever

It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.⁣ ⁣ Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV. ⁣ ⁣ A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. ⁣ ⁣ It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther. ⁣ ⁣ He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. ⁣ ⁣ The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time. ⁣ ⁣ Photo Credit: @samjonespictures
