CR7 back to Manchester United!

28th August 2021 morning, I still can't believe this is actually happening. Last night at Singapore time 23:50, Manchester United released an official statement with this banner. Yes! Cristiano Ronaldo is back to United again!

It was a crazy 24 hours for United fans. Few days before 28th, there were news reported that Ronaldo is seeking to leave Juventus and Manchester City seems to be his next stop. I was like hell no! He can join other clubs in other countries, but not other clubs in England especially not City or Liverpool. He is a United legend, he won't be joining the rivals. That was my thought when I saw such rumour

However on 27th Aug things getting real. Juventus coach - Allegri confirmed that Ronaldo wants to leave. This sparks off that Ronaldo could actually be joining City soon. A little info here, City already lost Aguero and they couldn't get Harry Kane this season so they seems to be desperate to get a prolific forward to join them. So it make sense for them to go for Ronaldo. However, as a United fans you wouldn't want to see your legend player joining the noisy neighbour and potentially helped them to win another Premier League title. So when this news was out, a lot of United fans were raging, burning their CR7 United jerseys, posting out reaction video on this. I never watched those videos, can't stand of those negativity. I can understand why the fans were fuming, to see a United legend wearing City shirt playing for them will not be a good feeling. Will be like another situation of Schmeichel and Gary Neville situation. We fans can't do anything if he really join Manchester City, we will just be very very very disappointed about it. I was hoping please don't let this be real.

Then on the same night, Rio Ferdinand started posting something in his twitter.

Another rumor starting coming out, saying United could hijack the deal and get Ronaldo back. I was like `Hold on. Is this for real?!` For years ever since Ronaldo left United to join Real Madrid I was hoping he will be back someday. Everytime when there was rumor saying he could be back to United, I was praying so hard please make it real and take back the no.7 shirt. But everytime it was a disappointment. So slowly I already accepted the reality that he probably using those rumor to get a better deal, he won't come back to United wearing United shirt. However now out of nowhere, it seems like United really going in to get him back.

Then a few hours later, another news came out saying Manchester City already pulled out from the deal. Oh my god! Is this really happening? Is Cristiano Ronaldo really coming back to Old Trafford?! At that time there wasn't any official statements yet, but seeing all those rumor and tweets I can't really hide that excitement that this could actually be happening. I just keep smiling to myself 😆  

Around 2330 I went to bed going to sleep, but with all those excitement really hard to sleep. Then around 2350 I received a notification in my phone. I saw the notification is from Manchester United and the title United Confirm Ronaldo Agreement. Oh my god! It's actually happening! Ronaldo is back!!!

This morning when I woke up I quickly check FB posts, Twitter to confirm it was real, it was not a dream. 10 hours after the tweet was out, there were already 812k of retweet. Not sure what is the number now. Crazy. Still can't believe it. What a turn of event. What an emotion roller coaster. Our feeling in the last 24 hours turned from raging, fuming, disappointing to HYPE, EXCITED, ENJOYMENT! Really can't wait to see him wear United jersey going on to the Old Trafford pitch again. I was planning to buy the third kit with Bruno's name, but now seems like I'm going for home kit with Ronaldo's name too!  😆

On 31st August the transfer deadline, Manchester Untied finally release an official statement. Cristiano Ronaldo is back to Manchester United! He has signed the deal!

At the same day, Ronaldo also released a heartwarming message to the United fans.


I still can't believe I'm able to see CR7 wearing in Red again. I always thought this day may never come.

Now that everyone knows CR7 is back to United, the next question everyone had is he able to take back the no.7? Number 7 is already like a branding to Ronaldo, so it doesn't feel like to see him wear other number than 7. However, due to no.7 had already registered under Edison Cavani, it seems like Ronaldo might not get back the no.7 this season. So many speculate he might wear no.28 which was his first number in Sporting Lisbon. 


However, there is a turn on event. On the same transfer deadline, Danial James who wore no.21 in United transferred to Leeds United. Number 21 is also the number which Cavani always wear in his national Uruguay team. So on 3rd September, United released this statement to confirm Ronaldo got back his no.7 and Cavani switched to no.21!

Thank you, Cavani for making all these to be possible. Now everything seems perfect! Ronaldo is back to United. He got back his no.7. Now we just have to wait his second debut on 11th September against Newcastle. All the fans around the world will be excited to see him wearing Manchester United no.7 stepping into the pitch in Old Trafford again. Can't wait!😆
